Edwin Francis Gay, 1867-1946, economist and historian. Having graduated from the University of Michigan, he did graduate work in Germany and received his Ph.D. from the University of Berlin in 1902. In 1893 he married Louise FitzRandolph. The couple had two children: Edward Randolph and Margaret Gay Davies. Gay was affiliated with Harvard in 1901-1919 as assistant and Professor of economics.
